Let's Get Pumped!
May. 13th, 2010 05:59 pmLets start off with a bang. I just LOVE this. I think I've watched it over 100 times:
Now to slow it down with some angst. This one is an oldie but a goodie, because we all know there will be no happy ending:
But Team Free Will fight together 'til the bitter end:
Let's add some hope to the mix and make it hurt in a good way: (if you don't want to watch the whole thing, at least skip to 2:40. It's a minute ram packed full of love.)
And lastly, what got us here:
Now you should be adequately prepared for tonight.
I believe the appropriate sign off is simply:
God Speed
She Bang, She Bang!
May. 6th, 2010 02:59 pmIt was speaking to me, or some mumbo-jumbo. There're so many great summaries, I'm just glad it was still available.
By the way, if you're in the market for some clown shoes, Jared's getting rid of a pair. *snicker*
He really is a great guy, I don't know why more celebrities don't do things like this. Imagine the amount of money that could be raised for charity just by signing a piece of clothing.

Only 14 days left! Get your bid in. ;)
Big Bang!!! W00T!!
May. 5th, 2010 11:14 pmI hate the 'no contact' rule. I feel exposed, with my author easily able to see who I am without me being able to do my own tire kicking.
Sure, I could make a list of everyone who signed up, remove those who dropped out, cross reference with the blurbs Wendy asked for a while back and subsequently stalk any matching journals, searching for clues that the Big Bang they may or may not be writing matches the prompt I may or may not have chosen. Not that I thought about it or anything.
No, really, my eyes usually shift like that.
Oh, well. Guess I'll just have to wait like the rest of us art losers.
But anyway... YAY!
Famdom Art = Fart?
Apr. 7th, 2010 07:00 pmI had another piece for the apocabigbang but I don't think the author is ready to post her story just yet. Since I made the art for her I think I'll wait until she's ready, to post the art.
Also, I'm trying out this dreamwidth thing, so I'll be cross posting for... I don't know, the month? If you know the HTML to link to LJ comms from DW, I'd appreciate the heads up.
Lastly AO3 is looking for input on how to handle art posting, if you have thoughts now is the time to express them. Here's a link.
Peace.
ETA: not as many as I hoped. I wish there was just a blanket option to put in a header and get rid of the forced boxes they use un-necessarily for the journal title.
The Mind of Misha
Mar. 31st, 2010 09:04 pmPretty much exactly what I would expect Misha would make after working on Supernatural for over a year.
Browser Woes
Mar. 29th, 2010 09:16 pmNo, it's not that shockwave constantly causes it to crash. Both Firefox and explorer crashed on me enough times for me to stop being upset over it and just accept it as a way of life.
It's not that it won't let me copy and paste to a post.
And it's not that it plays shell games with embedded You Tube videos, placing in whatever video it feel like, with complete disregard to what the poster actually wanted there.
Or that it likes to just collapse images all together leaving me with a o_O face when people are commenting on images I can't even see.
No, what annoys me the most is that when I close a video without stopping it first, it will continue to play, to completion. Leaving me with no way of stopping it or muting it. But it's the best when these phantom videos pop up randomly, just playing out, even when I close every browser I have open and I'm forced to restart my computer just to make. it. stop.
It's making me feel schizophrenic.
But I won't stop using Chrome. In conjunction with Firefox of course. It saves my tabs and gets rid of ads. I just wish they could put the best parts of Chrome together with the best parts of Firefox and let me get through a day without having to reopen/reload all of my tabs.
Oh, how I like to dream.
Oh Sheesh Y'all
Mar. 19th, 2010 06:28 pmSpecifically with Jake and Amir
Have a sampling. No, I'm not cutting.
That's just to give you a feel for their dynamic, it's by no means their best video's, it's so hard to play favorites.
If you would like to see more I suggest starting at the beginning because their jokes really build on each other. Here is their website with an easy to use archive. However that doesn't have a continuous play function for the lazy viewer, so if you want to watch them backwards, and don't mind annoying adds every few vids, click here.

It's been a long time since I had a new obsession. I almost forgot what it was like.
...'twas a dream.

Fandom: Supernatural/Die Hard
Rating: R
Characters: Sam/Matt, Dean, McClane
Warnings: apoca-future, gore, zombies
Word Count: 10,700
Summary:"...and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them."
They walk out of necessity, most of the arterial roads clogged with cars, trucks and bodies. They'd started out in the Impala but there were times when they'd lose hours and sometimes days trying to find a clear path and it exposed them too much to be out of the car, moving others out of their way. Plus, you never knew when a zombie would be camped out in the back of a sedan you just wanted to push off a bridge.

Pointless Raging
Mar. 8th, 2010 02:18 amWow, ok, I love Wired magazine, I really do. It’s the only magazine that I consistently read and enjoy. And I have respect for their sciency know-how, at least I did until I read this article.
Research Calls Forensic DNA Technique Into Question
Every forensic scientist worth their salt knows that you always try to get tissue from the same source to test and none of them will say that mtDNA can be used for conviction, or identification, or really anything. You only resort to mtDNA when the sample is severely degraded (it’s resilient and abundant so even if half of it is destroyed there is still plenty left to quantify) or in missing persons cases because mtDNA is almost EXACTLY THE SAME AS YOUR MOTHERS.
Really, did they bother to even ask someone who might have caught an episode of CSI before they wrote this (not that I have ever seen CSI but I have seen this mentioned on Law and Order a few hundred times.) No one is going to jail over a mtDNA match alone. And the variance between tissue samples has been know and calculated for several years, yet another reason why genomic DNA is the preferred source. It doesn’t change throughout the body.
Sorry for the rant, I get a little defensive when it comes to a subject in which I have a degree.

Summary: Things haven’t been easy for the brothers Winchester. Now something is wrong with Dean. Sam may be able to save him, and the world, but it just might cost him his life.
Link to Master Fic Post
Seriously, go read her story, it's just amazing. She doesn't write much in Supernatural but maybe if we prod her enough she could be persuaded to play in this sandbox more often. We need more writers like her.

Healthy Competition is Good for the Soul
Mar. 3rd, 2010 11:50 pmThe Super Wicki and SFX are running a competition to design a magazine cover for hunters. This sounds really cool. The deadline is March 14th though and I just don't know if I'll have the time.
There's things like stock image copyrights to consider and do they want just an image or are we supposed to make up articles for teasers too? I have way too many questions like these to really seriously consider entering.
But even if I don't enter I think I might try my hand at making something anyway and just post it here. It could be fun.

The Happy and The Sad
Mar. 2nd, 2010 10:06 pmEvidence of the happy
But really people, did we have to stalk the wedding and prove that as a fandom we can't be trusted in public? Driving by is one thing (I admit that if I lived in the area I wouldn't be able to resist.) But to wait around in the lobby for hours and even stop Jared ON HIS WEDDING DAY to introduce yourself, that's a bit too far.
Not cool man, not cool.
